Voodoo's released a Mac Mini clone called the Idol. It is roughly the same size. It costs around $900.00 with a 1.73 Ghz Pentium M 740, 512M RAM, 40G 7200 RPM HD. Oh, and it comes in 11 colors. More here.
While this seems a bit expensive apparently AOpen is working on a similar clone that will be much cheaper.
Looks like the AOpen Cube Mini is not as small as the Idol.
Paul, October 19, 2005 10:35 PM:Why does the Mac mini look so much more appealing than either the Voodoo or AOpen?
It'll be cool when the intel Mac minis ship, then you can dual boot Windows and Mac OS X for ~$500.
John, October 19, 2005 11:03 PM:Well I should have shown it in white.
So far the dual boot is just speculation, but yeah, that would be cool.
The AOpen clone looks interesting but the rumored specs are a little disappointing (1.3GHz celeron, 256MB ram) for $500. Apparently you'll be able to forgo Windows and save yourself $100 bucks, which is a nice option for some folks.
