Back in the day of working at GoAhead, John and I were trying to find a way to have tasty food at lunch without paying a huge amount of money or getting bored of eating the same thing. Enter TastyBite.
They provide pre-made Thai or Indian meals in a foil pouch that you just heat up in a microwave. I would make a batch of rice each week, and bring some in each day to eat with the TastyBite (my favourites were the Bombay Potatoes or the Bengal Lentils).
Each TastyBite costs around $2.30, plus the cost of rice (approximately $0.01 per tonne).
The routine:
And all was well and good, and the people were fed.
Then I moved down to California where my new company provides breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks so I have no need for buying groceries. I haven't even unpacked my dishes from when I left Bellevue in April 2003. (Disclaimer: I did unpack my corkscrew, bottle opener and 2 wine glasses, but I digress). The only problem is what to eat on the weekend when not at work (the company orders in from restaurants every Saturday and Sunday). I usually get stuff from Trader Joe's or go to one of the many fine San Francisco restaurants.
Until today.
TastyBite has unleashed their new weapon in the Bachelor Pad feeding arsenal: The Thai and Indian Ready Meals! They come with their own rice and spoon and tuperware container! For $2.89!! I'm eating a yellow curry right now! I can almost hear the blue gun roaring away...
The future is indeed here. Now bring me my hover car...
hehe, the inside package has the tag line "Thinking INSIDE the box". My Trader Joe's has private branded Thai dishes that look like the same thing. I wonder if they are re-branded tasty bites?
Paul, December 27, 2004 01:10 PM:Oops. The ones I bought are actually the Trader Joe's brand, not TastyBites. I was wondering, because the Trader Joe's yellow curry comes with rice, and the TastyBite yellow curry comes with noodles. It's all good.
