I just finished the single player Call of Duty 2 on the 360. I'm pretty impressed. Just when I thought I was burned out on WWII games, this comes along. It looks amazing and plays very well. So far it is the best 360 game I've played. I don't want to spoil the ending, but we win.

When are they releasing the Xbox 360?

John, March 24, 2006 09:08 AM:

Uh, next week I think.

While I haven't gone (much) out of my way to find the 360s, I've tried about once per week since launch to go to either Target (Mountain View) or EB Games (San Francisco). That's months where Microsoft could've had hundreds of dollars of my cash, but they really haven't been very clear on why there aren't any available.

I just got Ghost Recon Advanced Warrior (GRAW). The graphics are much better and would be fun on-line. Single player mode is lacking though. I got it Thursday and finished it Monday. Total playing time ~ 4 hours.

I just started COD2 and the play seems pretty good. The machine gun fire is great. Just let it rip.

what platform are you playing these on? 4 hours for single player graw huh? I'll have to factor in the fact that you are a much better Ghost player than I am.

360. Of course, it was on the default skill level.

It may have been more than 4 hours but not by much. Probably 6-8 is more likely. Most of that time was also spent watching the movies in between missions though. I just don't think much time went into the storyline and development of single player missions. That game has evolved into primarily multi-player game IMO.

Ok it took me almost 8 hours to get through the single player. After I was done I read through the tips that said you can use the X button to control the HUD display as well as night vision. Ohhh, so that's how you turn on the cool friend / foe tracking that I remember seeing from the trailers. Turns out I had accidentally turned it off in one of the early missions and played the whole game without it on. Doh! Man those enemys are hard to spot without it!

So, I imagine it will continue to be a fun on-line game. I am disappointed with the single player mode though.
