Atari is pushing retro gaming by releasing the Atari Flashback2. The Flashback is a scaled-down version of the Atari 2600, but uses standard Atari controllers. There is no cartridge slot, as 40 classic titles are built in. For old timers like me, just the mere mention of the word Atari brings back glossy eyed memories of the first days when you could bring the arcade home.
In 1983, our basement flooded and the Atari 2600 was floating in the water for a couple of hours. We dried it off, turned it on, and it still played perfectly. Try that with your AMD64 + GeForce Ultra machine.
Fondest Atari memory...staying up all night with my friends during a sleep over to "flip" Asteroids.
I still have mine in a box with all my games. I just need find me the right power cord for it.
My favorite game? Adventure. But Cosmic Ark gets high rating from me as well because for such a simple game it did a very good job at driving me crazy trying to beat my last high score.
Favourite game tricks #1: Hold down reset, insert Space Invaders, turn console on, let go of reset and you get double shot instead of single shot.
I remember getting so far in Berzerk that the robots stopped shooting at me. I thought I'd broken my Atari.
